HORNBILL & SANGAI FESTIVAL TOUR
Tour Description
Every year the Government of Manipur, Spearheaded by the Tourism Department, celebrates the Manipur Sangai Festival from 21st to 30th of November. The Hornbill Festival as the ‘festivals of festivals’ came into existence only in the year 2000. It is a deliberate cultural creation of the Government of Nagaland and it came to be celebrated every year from 1st to 10th December.

Arrival at Imphal:
Today arrive at Imphal airport, received and transferred to hotel, after lunch and refreshment we will visit Ima Market and Govindajee temple, later attend the Sangai Festival, and overnight stay in Imphal.
Imphal Sightseeing
Today after breakfast we will go for an excursion tour to Moirang ( 42 kms), explore Loktak Lake on a motor boat and visit the local fisherman and families staying in the floating island in their tiny floating house and then Kaibol Lamjao National Park to get a glimpse of the most Endangered Deer Sangai, after having lunch in Sandra resort we will also visit Indian National Army Museum and on returning back to Imphal we will stop at Red Hill (the memorial of Japanese Army), reach Imphal and check into hotel, later enjoy the Sangai festival. Overnight stay will be in Imphal.
Imphal Sightseeing
Day excursion to Ando Village and later enjoy the events and program of the Sangai festival. Overnight stay in Imphal. (Depending on the events of the festival and the need of the clients we can change the plan and on interest of the group)
Imphal - Kohima (140 km)
Today after an early breakfast we will proceed for Kohima( 135 kms / 05 hrs straight drive), we will stop at Kangla Tongbi War Memorial and then we will proceed to visit the Marum Khullen village ( 80 kms from Imphal town on way to Kohima), on reaching the village we can see the traditional house of the tribal people residing on a high mountain with a great view of the Imphal valley and Imphal river flowing across, after spending an hour we will drive for Kohima, before reaching Kohima we will visit the Jakhama Village ( Angami tribal village), later drive to Kohima town and check into hotel, evening at leisure and overnight stay.
Kohima Sightseeing
Today after breakfast we will drive to the venue of the Grand Hornbill festival, Kisema village (14 kms), explore the festival, there will be dances, songs and lots of performances by the native Naga belonging to different tribes. Enjoy the local cuisine, later drive to Kohima and overnight stay.
Kohima Sightseeing
Today after an early breakfast we will drive to Kigwema Village ( a very historical village during WWII) explore the village and visit the traditional Angami Tribal house, later we will drive to the venue of the Hornbill festival, we will spend the full day in the venue visiting the traditional houses of all the tribes and also enjoy the different dance performances by the tribes, enjoy local cuisine of the Naga tribes, later drive to Kohima own and check into hotel and overnight stay.
Kohima – Dimapur (70 km)
Today after breakfast drive to Dimapur airport for onward destination.
